Clearing an Absence (Directions in Spanish below)
All verifications (“clearing “) of absences need to be completed within three days of the date of absence. They can be cleared by phone or in writing (this includes off –grounds passes.)
If your student is sick you can call 408-558-3067 24 hours a day to leave a message; or you can call 408-626-3407 x7110 from 7:30 AM to 3:55 PM; or you send your child with a note.
If your child is out ill for 3 days or more, we will need a doctor’s note in order to have the absences excused.
If my car breaks down is my student's absence excused? Answer: NO
There use to be Independent Study Contracts for short vacation or trips; do these still exist and is my student excused?Answer: NO All vacations are now unexcused absences and making up work acceptance need to be arranged through the teacher.
Are personal/family issues (i.e. babysitting a sibling, ill family member, emotional family problems) excused? Answer: NO. If there is a family issue that is going to cause your student to miss school please feel free to call us.

Absence Codes
Below are the codes that will show on SchoolLoop and on Aeries attendance records and what they stand for:

C- Court
D- Medical/ Dental appointments
F- Funeral
G- Funeral for non family member
I- Illness
P- Employee Conference
Q- Quarantine
R- Religious Holiday
X- School Activity
Y- College Visit
Unexcused Absences
S- Suspension
T- Truant
U-Unexcused
V- Vacation
Tardiness
If a student is late by 30 minutes or more they are considered to be TRUANT for that class period. Any time fewer than 30 minutes will be listed as a LATE. Clearing a student for being late follows the same guidelines as stated above for absences.

Justificación de ausencias
- Todas las verificaciones (justificadas) de ausencias deben ser completadas dentro de los tres días siguientes a la fecha de la ausencia. Pueden ser justificadas por teléfono o por escrito (esto incluye pases para salir temprano de la escuela.)
Si su hijo/a está enfermo/a, usted puede llamar al 408-558-3067 las 24 horas del día para dejar un mensaje, o puede llamar al 408-626-3407 x7110 desde las 7:30 AM hasta las 3:55PM, o enviar a su hijo con una nota.
- Si su hijo/a está enfermo/a por 3 días o más, necesitaremos una nota del médico con el fin de tener las ausencias justificadas.
- Preguntas comunes de asistencia son:
- ¿Si mi auto se descompone las ausencias de mi estudiante serán justificadas?
Respuesta: NO
- ¿Antes se usaba el uso de los Contratos de Estudio Independientes para vacaciones cortas o viajes; aún existen y son justificadas las ausencias de mi hijo?
Respuesta: NO Todas las vacaciones son ahora ausencias injustificadas y hacer aceptación del trabajo deben ser organizados por el maestro o maestra.
- ¿Los problemas personales / familiares (es decir, cuidando a un hermano, a un familiar enfermo, problemas emocionales de la familia) son justificadas?
Respuesta: NO
Si usted tiene una pregunta sobre si existe o no una ausencia va a ser justificada, por favor llame al Centro de Servicio Estudiantil al 408-626-3407 x7110.

Si un estudiante llega tarde por 30 minutos o más se considera ausente por ese período de clase. En cualquier momento en menos de 30 minutos se mostrará como una TARDE. Para corregir el por llegar tarde, sigue las mismas pautas que el anterior para ausencias.
