Concurrent Enrollment
High School students in grades 9-12 can take community college classes with the approval of their high school officials and earn college credits (not high school credits). The number of credits students can enroll in will vary per community college. Before applying to the community college, students should speak with their high school counselor to learn about any school/district policies and processes.
Concurrent Enrollment (CE) students enrolled at a participating California high school do not pay for registration fees or tuition for the classes. CE students are required to pay for class fees (ex: lab fees, testing fees), textbooks and supplies
Steps for Concurrent Enrollment Process
- Research which community college you'd like to attend and what class you wish to register for.
- Complete CUHSD’s Request Concurrent Enrollment form.
- This form will get directed to your counselor, and they will be able to sign off on the concurrent enrollment class you are trying to take.
- Complete the Community Colleges’ Concurrent Enrollment form and attain counselor's signature.
- After you get approval from your counselor, please apply to your desired community college (i.e. West Valley) and enroll in your necessary class.
**Approval from your counselor does not guarantee you a spot in your Concurrent Enrollment Course. You must complete the application and all steps required.**
