About Me
Welcome! My name is Ms. Kirsten McKay.
I have four years' teaching experience and one year in private high school teaching experience. I grew up in Branham's attendance area and I am excited to be teaching in the city I have lived in all my life this year. My assignment this year is English 1 for freshmen, ERWC for seniors, and graphic publications, the class that is responsible for creating the Ursa Major yearbook.
I grew up in San Jose and went to West Valley College and San Jose State University. I have a BA in communication studies, English, and 7-12 teaching preparation as well as a clear credential in English, both from San Jose State. I am currently pursuing my masters' degree in education with an emphasis in instructional coaching from Clemson University, and I am due to graduate in December 2020.
When I'm not teaching, grading my students' work, or seeking sources of caffeine and good books to read, I like to: spend time with my family, friends, and fiance; exercise; play video games; watch the San Francisco Giants; run or play tabletop games; watch too much content on streaming platforms; and say hello to every single dog I see.
